Tips for Better Curb Appeal

So you are thinking about putting your home on the market and you want to make sure that you’re going to get the best return on your investment. These tips for better curb appeal should help.

Often sellers are apprehensive about what to do with their home to make the best impression. Of course they should be because selling your home is a big deal! Well, let’s talk about curb appeal. It’s important as it’s the first impression that your buyer will see when they arrive at your home. One of the best things that you can do is rent a pressure washer or hire someone to do it for you. It is amazing how much better a home looks after a good pressure wash!

You also want to pay attention to the front door and porch area. As an agent, it takes a few seconds to open a lockbox and this gives the potential buyers a chance to really look at your entryway while they are waiting to get in. Take a moment to make sure that there isn’t any paint peeling off of the door or cobwebs around the lights. When buyers see these small things, they wonder if you have taken care of the big things. Another tip is to walk out to the end of your driveway and really look at your front yard. Is there anything you could do to freshen things up without breaking the bank? Clipping or cutting back dead plants, mowing your grass, pressure washing the driveway/walkway, putting a few fresh flower pots by the front porch, these really do make a difference.

If you have a dog, clean your yard every day. Buyers look at everything and when walking through your backyard, the last thing you want is for them to step in a pile of poop and then bring it into your house. Speaking of the backyard, how does your back porch look? It wouldn't take much to sweep, put a few more flower pots and maybe a few new cushions on your chairs to make it appeal to buyers. You want them to feel like they could sit down and enjoy the porch while they are seeing your home.

According to the National Association of Realtors, 67% of buyers will walk through a home that they saw online. You want to hire an agent that schedules professional photos and video. This is an absolute must when preparing to sell your home. And this means, curb appeal shows up on the photos and videos. Making sure that you put your best foot forward will make ALL the difference to get your home sold faster and for the amount of money that you deserve. For more information feel free to call me.
